History, What is it, Why does it matter . . .

I am a HUGE history buff. Whether it was reading Ancient Greco-Roman Historian Peter Brown back during my Ph.D. studies at Notre Dame (in classes on Asceticism, John Chrysostom and other early Christian heroes of old . . .) OR more recently, reading a GREAT book written by Senator John McCain that recalls the exploits of his grandfather and father, both former admirals in the Navy, I thirst for colorful recounting of days long gone.

It is almost cliche, but the saying, "he who does not know history is doomed to repeat it" nonetheless is a saying with significant truth to it.

If we do not tell to future generations the horrors of WW II with German butchering of Jews, Poles, gypsies, et al (10 million who died in the Nazi death camps alone!) then sadly, we are in ever increasing danger of seeing such atrocities repeat themselves.

If we do not understand the foundations of Western civilization, both pre-Christian and Christian, then to be frank, we will cease to exist as a "Western civilization" and simply be replaced by whatever civilization is the strongest.

If we do not read history, then for we Americans who are hooked on ritalin prescription drugs due to our supposed "ADHD," our new society will be nothing but a combination of X-Box, Kentucky Fried Chicken, prescription drugs to alleviate our pain and wave after wave of poverty on our nation as our national productivity slumps.

In conclusion, turn off the darn TV set for awhile. Go to the public library or a Barnes & Noble and re-learn what it means to be an American. Right now, in the world's eyes, to be American seems to mean to be lazy, war-like and exploitative of others.

Let us as a Nation State reach far back into our Spanish and English heritage as a Christian Republic and reshape America according to our original Judeo-Christian founding.

Blessings in Jesus,
Rob J. King, for a New, Better, Judeo-Christian American Republic
