The act of Homecoming is beautiful.
Recently I attended the annual conference of the Coming Home Network. The Coming Home Network is a Catholic Apostolate that is in place to welcome those from other Christian communities who desire full communion with the Vatican.
I greatly enjoyed this event, especially since the chief focus was Jesus Christ and also the Virgin Mary. Whether it was sweatshirts for sale or posters or rosaries, the focus was on good, old, old Catholic piety!
Here is where the United States of America must return to its true spiritual home. What started out as a place of Religious Freedom as established by English Puritans in the North, Baptists and Methodists (Anglicans) in the South and Catholics in the Southwest, sadly is now a 'ship' that has gone astray without its rutter.
From killing our babies in the womb (something illegal from the 1700's - 1973) to same-sex unions (homosexuality itself was outlawed in most states up until the 20th century) to fighting wars that are no longer 'just wars,' but instead are the wars of capitalist expansion, we are a Nation adrift without a rudder. Need oil, then go invade Iraq. Need fame, then go invade a country like Grenada.
In contrast to these recent developments in U.S. History, some of which were actually GOOD, like the Civil Rights Movement of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the distinctively Judeo-Christian aspect of our Nation state identity (which Dr. King eloquently and prophetically exemplified), must now be reinstituted. Reinstituted through prayer. Reinstituted through fasting. Reinstituted through recommitting our lives to Jesus Christ!
If you would like to return to the best of our original Judeo-Christian heritage, please support me politically. Ironically, Christian Teaching, when clearly and rationally stated is appealing to BOTH liberals and conservatives, whether it is concern for the poor, homeless, working class OR concern for the safety of children, including saving babies from the evil of infanticide.
PLEASE VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE.

Putting the Moves on PEOPLE
Lately I have been thinking about sex. I just wrote a Campaigns Wikia article entitled "Sex Strangely Considered" in which I argue for the normativity of heterosexuality. One person really went ballistic, but then calmed down and we could engage in a rational dialogue.
One of the main problems that I have seen with homosexuality (case studies are not what I am talking about!) is that there seems to be a certain tendency of homosexuals to lack self-restraint. I have had a gay professor reference my male genitalia in a Divinity School bathroom, countless gay men either touch me without invitation and even one old gay man who actively propositions people in the public park close to my home.
Greek philosophers talked significantly about "erotic behavior," largely because they were so heavily engaged in it, heterosexual OR homosexual.
Greeks largely wanted a 'civilized' society and so wrote endlessly about Virtue and the need for 'moderation' in all things.
Sadly, when judged by the standards of ancient Greek PAGAN society (or at least the best of it!) our own nation has become so decadent that our own whips & chains homosexual underground would be even outside of GREEK PAGAN NORMS.
So, there we have it. I pray for REVIVAL in JESUS CHRIST'S NAME. Without it, our nation will fall just as the roman empire once fell (also due to its decadence, but eventually making room for Christian Rule).

The Few, the Proud, the U.S. Marine Corps!
Friends, we live in truly perilous times. Government surveillance (of our internet usage, cell-phones, etc.) is blatantly un-Constitutional yet is still pernicious. If we cross the wrong person who is a politician, then suddenly we could have certain 'files' formed on us (e.g. claiming that we are terrorists or something else insinuating in order to frame us). I have even had a Georgia congressional candidate threaten to call Dick Cheney on me! (he was drunk and this was at the Leadership Institute run by the mentor of Karl Rove . . . I kid you not!).
But in spite of such surveillance (a nightmare of the modern Western Post-Enlightenment world as described by post-modern philosopher Michel Foucault in his book Discipline and Punish), good people are nonetheless looking out for us!
One such group, for the most part, are the U.S. Marine Corps.
My accountability partner is a former U.S. Marine and recently I was 'tipped off' by another Marine about a type of surveillance that I was under (private, not governmental). Pretty funny actually how this person wanted to 'spy' on me outside of normal evaluation procedures, and he was CAUGHT red-handed because the very person whom he was eliciting information from just happened to be a former marine!
Hoo-ahh! A U.S. Marine looking out for a fellow military man.
Well, in spite of such good men (also my father, a 20 year vet) who try to safeguard freedom and protect the Constitution, sadly, even within our military, the Constitution itself is under attack.
Here, I speak neither as a military man, nor as an official politician (although I do have these aspirations obviously), but instead as a citizen of the United States of America! If Habeas Corpus is needing to be 'restored' by Senate Judiciary Chair Patrick Leahy (a fine fellow Catholic man), then something has run aground with the Military's own law. UCMJ (the Uniform Code of Military Justice) should never supercede the Constitution, nor be an 'exception to the Constitution,' but instead must be grounded completely IN the Constitution, its freedoms, and our own unique American form of democracy as a United Republic. Similarly, "One Nation Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All" does not equal immunity from prosecution by higher ranking federal government officials, so in other words, someone like Dick Cheney MUST open his office for Congressional review!

Jesus, Darwin and the REAL
I am tired of seeing those stupid "Darwin-fish" signs!
If a swastika were placed on a bumper of a car with something anti-Semitic that person would be charged with a hate crime.
If an anti-female slogan were placed on a bumper of a car then that person would be dragged into court by some feminist attorney.
BUT, the second a Born-Again Christian states his beliefs publicly he is labelled an "extremist" and silenced by the liberal media.
In contrast, in the United States of America, we enjoy this little freedom called "Freedom of Speech," and so as much as I hate those stupid Darwin-fish signs on the back of car bumpers, I will not seek to limit this freedom of speech. All that I ask is that in trying to safeguard the secularist, anti-Christian right to freedom of speech that the secularist, anti-Christian does not similarly deny my own right to freedom of religious speech concerning the Christian claims of TRUTH.
My fear, however, is that only through law as instituted at the local, state and federal levels will this anti-Christian denial of freedom of religious speech be stopped.
We can say that "Christianity is oppressive," but yet it is the Darwinist who is playing the oppressor.
I am not a Darwinist, nor am I creationist. Darwin's theories are fundamentally flawed on scientific grounds alone! But, in questioning Darwin according to his own lack of evidence to support his theories, I am not a "fundamentalist" either. Scripture is Holy Writing that is TRUTH for all mankind. Through Scripture, subjects such as physics, the natural sciences, etc. all can be interpreted as part of the Natural Law. In fact, I even met a quite Spirit-Filled full-tenured Physics Professor (Catholic) who has taught at the University of Notre Dame for years. Science and religion are not opposed. Darwinism and religion are however!
