I always grew up a Tampa Bay Bandits fan.
This was back in the 1980's when "U.S.F.L." football was in its heyday, Burt Reynolds, movie star, financed the team, and the likes of Herschel Walker, all-time University of Georgia SUPER-STAR would grace the field of U.S.F.L. ball . . .
I also followed the Tampa Bay Bandits and U.S.F.L football because, well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were like, you know, LOUSY at football! This was the 1980's you know . . .
NOW, I am still a Tampa Bay fan, but have grown to love the Bucs also. Back when Tony Dungy was coach, the Bucs were the defensive team of the NFL. From Warren Sapp to John Lynch to Derrick Brooks, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were unstoppable . . .
Well, now I am also 'changing allegiances.'
For years I have been a "Coast Guard" military fan! :-)
My Father, Robert Lewis King, was a career E-8 enlisted Coast Guard service member. He humbly served his country. He served in Korea (when originally drafted for the Army! :-), he served in Vietnam, and well, yes, he even served right here in St. Petersburg, FL.
Just yesterday, however, I finally made the transition in allegiance. Although the Coast Guard will always be near and dear to my heart as a "King man," I now have to place first allegiance with the good old fashioned United States Army, of which I am an officer.
From serving in Hurricane clean-up in Texas and Louisiana (National Guard) to trying to bring ORDER into the chaos of the Middle East, the United States Army is there to serve and protect the rest of us while we sip our Starbuck's "extra-cream vanilla chai mocha grande venti caramel supreme iced chilled coffees."
That's right, we in the United States Army make it safe for you, the American people to drink your coffee beverages of choice! :-}
Okay, all humor aside (and yes, the Starbuck's coffee drinks are verging on the absurd now!), I am now able to in humility make that transition.
From the Tampa Bay Bandits to the Buccanneers and NOW from the U.S. Coast Guard to the U.S. Army . . . Hoo-ahh!
Go Army, beat Navy in the 2007 Football Season coming up in a few months!

Merry Ole England, Wave of the Future?
Recently I have been reflecting upon the English Heritage within World History.
For many (say, the Irish!), England represents the worst of colonialism. Conquered lands that are never given back. People plowed under economically. All in time for a nice cup of morning tea & crumpets, correct?
Well, aside from England's bad colonial past (something highlighted by Indian reformer Mohandas K. Gandhi), England does have much to offer the world still . . .
First, England since the introduction of Christianity has been a hotbed of vital Christian piety. Whether the figure is a monarch such as King Edward the Confessor or a later Reforming Anglican priest such as John Wesley (founder of the Methodist movements), to be English has generally meant to also be a faithful Christian.
Yes, during recent times, England has followed the apostate hedonistic path of the European Union (post-Christian secular humanism devolving into psycho-therapeutic nazism . . .), but even within the midst of European apostasy, vital fires of REVIVAL still burn.
Take the extraordinary Charismatic Movement in Britain for example. Although the Anglican communion generally flounders (case in point is the current bizarre mega-genius Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams who is generally heretical but too darn intelligent for the average bloke to notice! :-), within the gay rights-supporting, inclusivistic-nazi-politically correct gestapo Anglican communion are nonetheless many vital Christians.
For this reason, and due to the fact that the Anglican Church is slightly closer walking distance than its Roman cousin, I have taken a step back towards merry old England and begun worshipping in an Episcopal church.
Same Jesus hanging on the crucifix, same Nicene-Constantinipolitan Creed proclaiming historic Christian Orthodoxy, same concern for helping the homeless, the poor, etc., same sacramental emphasis, and yes, through movements such as the Alpha Program, one can even still speak in tongues, cast out demons, and cure the sick if one so desires . . . Anglicanism is beautifully 'inclusive' you know! ;-)
So, maybe, this is the wave of the future in Christendom.
Separation of Church and State? Bah, humbug! Bring back good old fashioned state-supported monarchical imperial Christendom. Yeah, yeah, okay, we'll still abide by the Constitution and not have an "official" state church, BUT, let's just jump back on the Christendom bandwagon shall we and see where it takes us . . . seemed to work in Europe insuring salvation for about 1,500 years or so . . .

Bernanke the Liberal Socialist OR 'Let the Market Decide'
In today's issue of the Wall Street Journal (Thursday June 21, 2007; A3), Federal Reserve Chair, Ben Bernanke shows once again why he, and the monetarist fiscal policy he represents, is at its core, a form of Liberal Socialism more akin to the dying republics of the E.U. than of the robust, versatile economy of the U.S.
Whereas in places such as the U.K., "living on the dole" is a somewhat normative state of existence (i.e. high unemployment rates coupled with state-assistance that stifles hard work), in the U.S.A., we have always prided ourselves in working hard, staying clean (no drugs!), and prospering as a result of hard work!
Well, here is where Ben Bernanke is a "socialist in sheep's clothing." Contrary to Republican Economic Theory in which a looser grip on the Economy allows for greater creativity and greater prosperity as determined by the market, here, sensing phantom 'inflationary pressures,' Bernanke cites the potential effects in increasing inflation as supposedly caused by low unemployment rates.
Thus, in Bernanke's 'vision of America,' we as a People are to 'drive up unemployment' (more people 'living on the dole' of state-assistance through unemployment benefits) in order to 'counter the effects' of potential future inflation!
Am I missing something here?
We are supposed to "INCREASE UNEMPLOYMENT" to fix a problem that does not even exist yet!
To be true, inflation has risen 'slightly' in the past fiscal quarter from 2.2% to a 'whopping' 2.4% (sound the alarms, the 'sky is falling' so said Chicken Little! :-). But, rather than noticing the OBVIOUS causative factor (right in front of Bernanke's Liberal Socialist nose) of an INCREASE IN ENERGY PRICES (not unemployment being low!), Bernanke continues to demonstrate himself unfit for the job.
No, rather than phantom factors such as "potential high inflation due to increased employment of our Nation" (I guess Bernanke likes the E.U. model of having more people living on the dole!), the TRUE FACTOR, and something mentioned right in the Wall Street Journal article itself, is the RISING COST of ENERGY! From Gasoline to Electricity, ENERGY COSTS ARE SKY-ROCKETING, and it only takes a high school "Young Businessman's of America" thinker to examine the OBVIOUS causative relationship. If energy costs are higher, then production costs will be higher. If gasoline prices are high, then transport costs for goods & services are higher.
Mr. Bernanke, hello, welcome to the Land of Rational Thought!
You have chosen the least obvious, least likely factor of high employment as what you will attack (again, you must like the dole system of the U.K.) instead of attacking the problem of high energy and high gasoline prices that are what truly drive up the cost of inflation.
I guess either you are not very intelligent OR more likely, you are an "ideological thinker" who has allowed his Leftist Economic Training to skew the data.
Either way, my prayers are with you and I hope in Jesus' Name that you be replaced sometime soon . . .

Vlad the Impaler OR Preppy Military Officers?
In today's Wall Street Journal (Tuesday June 19, 2007; B13), a horrific example of our current Army Leadership is illustrated in plain view.
In an article debating the merits of a classic liberal arts style Higher Education (vs. supposedly 'real world' combat training), retired Lt. Col Ralph Peters argues that pursuing Higher Education at the Ph.D. level is a 'waste of time' for military personnel. For example, Peters argues, that with a Ph.D. level training, an Officer would overlook the vital importance of fighting insurgents in Iraq through 'scare tactics' such as 'strapping dead insurgents to the front of tanks for locals to see.'
My God!
Is this what our United States military is actually doing?
No wonder why people throughout the Nations of the World hate us!
Okay, even if such a barbaric practice is not done, or done infrequently, for someone with the rank of Lt. Col (or even a Private First Class for that matter) to advocate strapping dead bodies to tanks is truly an example of not only a War, but of an Army Leadership Class that has now degenerated into pure Nazism.
Strapping dead bodies to our tanks (look it up for yourself in the Wall Street Journal, Tuesday June 19, 2007; B13) is something out of the worst abuses of World History. In fact, this practice was utilized by none other than "Vlad the Impaler" the diabolical autocrat who would place dead bodies on stakes in order to scare his enemies. Vlad the Impaler is the historical figure upon whom the ficticious "Dracula" is based by the way!
Fortunately, contrary to corrupt leaders such as Lt Col Peters (strapping dead bodies to our tanks!!!), General David Petraeus is at least a bit more genteel about the whole issue of how our Military Leaders are trained. General Petraeus, himself trained at Princeton (doctoral work in International Relations and Economics!), sees the vital need for our Army Brass to be trained to the highest degree possible and at the best schools possible.
Fortunately, in addition to General Petraeus (who I hope does not advocate or permit strapping dead Iraqis to our tanks!), I also know a number of 'preppy military officers' who can at least think critically about issues such as War, Just-War (Vlad the Impaler excluded obviously!), Humanitarian Aid, and even enjoying the finest of the Arts such as Classical Music. In fact, many such 'refined, genteel Army Leaders' are also staunch Christians who are quietly doing their work in service to Jesus through their military work.
So, there you have it. The value of Higher Education. If we don't nurture Higher Education then we are allowing THUGS such as retired Lt Col Ralph Peters (Vlad the Impaler) to strap our enemy's bodies to our tanks.

Swanky motorcycles, draft beer & Cuban sandwiches!
My friends, part of leading an "Empire" is how to lead culturally!
Unlike the Roman Empire that could be brutal at times (for example, the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperors Nero and Diocletian; Nero by the way, was the "anti-christ" figure that the Book of Revelation made reference to since the letters in his name equalled '666' . . .), the Eastern portion of the Mediterranean was led by the more peaceful, affluent Greeks.
From the time of Emperor Constantine (who officially legalized Christianity and was converted to Christ on his death-bed!) through the eventual Fall of the Byzantine Empire to the Turks in the 15th century (some 1,000 years later!), the Byzantine Greek-speaking Imperialists led by culture and finesse, rather than raw military power.
The end result was that in spite of eventual Greek hubris (always the Greek Achilles' heel!) that led to the Byzantine Empire's demise, nonetheless, for 1,000 years Christians reigned.
Here the example of the Western Hemisphere is quite striking, almost chilling in fact. From the tip of Chile and Argentina in the South to the tip of Canada and Alaska in the North, we are a Christian Hemisphere. Yes, there are Muslems who reside under our protective umbrella, guaranteeing freedom of religion. Yes, there are also pagans, neo-pagans and even witches who live in Las Americas, but by and large we are Catholic-Protestant Empire of North, Central and South America.
Praise Jesus!
So, as Christian Imperialists (whether we wish to be or not!), how are we to lead?
Are we to use the sword to subjugate the peoples of the world?
Well, contrary to Radical Islam's caricature of we Christian Imperialists as a bunch of 'Crusaders,' mostly, as Christians we just want to raise our families in peace and safety, and try to persuade ALL People that Jesus Christ, the God-Man truly is the Way, the Truth and the Life and that NO ONE can come to the Father except through Jesus.
Amen?!
So, now that we ARE a Christian Imperial hemisphere (with the exception of pockets of Marxism in places like Cuba or in Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's warped brain!), we must learn from the mistakes and also the gifts & blessings of our Christian forefathers, the Greek Byzantines.
Like my friend, a strong Venezuelan Catholic (who is as 'homophobic' as I am since we are both Catholic Latinos! :-) who rides a 'swanky motorcycle,' so also must I adopt the cultural mores of GOOD IMPERIALISM! Whether it is shelling out the extra dough for 'real birkenstocks' in order to finance the college education of the Birkenstock store's assistant manager (also a 3.7 GPA student and 'Young Republican') OR whether it is shelling out money for the 'nice cigars' that are hand-made (including even an occasional 'Cuesta Rey' for the special occasions of life!), I must simply lead culturally and (a Republican Virtue) through seeking to foster prosperity as wrought in the crucible of hard work, rather than government hand-outs (either corporate OR welfare!).
I even insist on always eating Cuban Sandwiches as a way of connecting with the Hispanic wealth of the Western Imperial Christendom (the Cuban part now lives in diaspora in Tampa Bay and Miami, Florida, sadly due to Castro's take-over!).
So, there you have it.
Rather than leading by warfare (the Latin way that resulted in bloodshed upon bloodshed in Western Europe!), let us instead try the Greek manner. Dikiasoune = "righteousness" in Greek, and let us allow this key Christian Virtue to guide us as an Empire Under the LORDSHIP of Jesus Christ, Pantocrator.

Nay sayers & believers . . .
Friends,
Greetings in the Name of Our LORD and Savior, Jesus the Christ!
As I step completely out of my military role (a necessity if I am to be involved with politics at all; thus I chose NOT to go Active Duty when given the choice, but instead chose the Reserves), I am left with a strange coalition of Jesus-Lovers who have been Providentially drawn to me.
Among my new "coalition" if you will would include Professors of Theology (prominent), bartenders, wait staff, biker-for-Jesus, a liberal or two, and perhaps even some support from Opus Dei (hard to tell given the Da Vinci-Code style insider politics where deals are made with scratches of the nose and a bunch of other gestures that are hard to keep track of!).
So, there you have it, Conservative, Christian, Pro-Working Class.
As I move forward into the Political Arena (utilizing my On-Line and St. Petersburg College Theology & Ethics Teaching as my primary 'vehicle' politically), I am AWED by the POWER of the Holy Spirit in doing the Work here on earth!

Among my new "coalition" if you will would include Professors of Theology (prominent), bartenders, wait staff, biker-for-Jesus, a liberal or two, and perhaps even some support from Opus Dei (hard to tell given the Da Vinci-Code style insider politics where deals are made with scratches of the nose and a bunch of other gestures that are hard to keep track of!).
So, there you have it, Conservative, Christian, Pro-Working Class.
As I move forward into the Political Arena (utilizing my On-Line and St. Petersburg College Theology & Ethics Teaching as my primary 'vehicle' politically), I am AWED by the POWER of the Holy Spirit in doing the Work here on earth!

WORD of Faith
I belong to a Christian Ministry called "Abiding Life."
Although I am in communion with the Pope, as a Charismatic Christian (and similar to ecumenical Charismatic Groups such as People of Praise at the University of Notre Dame), before anything else, I am a Spirit-Filled disciple of my TEACHER JESUS.
Yes, I have Russian Icons in my home. Yes, I pray the rosary seeking our Blessed Mother's PROTECTION and PRAYERS for the salvation of the lost souls in purgatory and here on earth. But, as a Spirit-Filled Believer in Jesus, just as in the Acts of the Apostles (Biblical Book recording the Early Church's History just after Jesus), we as Christians can SPEAK into existence that which would not otherwise be as if it ALREADY IS.
NO, this is NOT magic or "speaking incantations" (as groups such as the wiccans try to do), but instead, as JESUS is the WORD, so also, are we as Jesus' own BODY here on Earth to SPEAK as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.
SPEAK the Holy Spirit into EVERY situation in your life. As the Holy Spirit EMPOWERS you, so also will the WORD of Faith that you speak come into reality.
SPEAK as the Holy Spirit tells you to!

Racial Eugenics & the Republican Party
I am a Republican.
Within the Republican Party's ranks, there ranges a diversity of viewpoints, but a common core of Judeo-Christian identity.
From those who claim to be gay, lesbian or bi-sexual to Pro-Lifers to Capitalist entrepreneurs, even where there may be disagreements with official Judeo-Christian teaching (e.g. the practice of homosexuality which is incompatible with Christian Teaching), the 'frame of reference' is still nonetheless the historic Western culture (Europe & North America) birthed by the Teaching, Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Republicans may disagree as to what it means to follow Jesus, but with the exception of a few Jewish Republicans (Mark Klein, M.D.), Jesus is still the hinge point upon which Republican Party political debates turn.
Here is where the MinuteMen Militia are distinctively non-Republican. Whereas even gay Republicans would likely still hold the Judeo-Christian Tradition as their reference point, the MinuteMen are openly non-Christian in their viewpoints. Mexican immigration is opposed at every turn. This is shocking especially since most Mexicans are hard-working, patriotic, Jesus-loving Catholics with strong family values. Canada, by contrast, receives no attention in securing "borders," yet Canada is extremely left-wing politically, verging on anti-Christian. Sadly, such a discrepancy can only be based upon a class-rooted form of "racial eugenics" in which anything Hispanic is somehow "less worthy" of American citizenship.
No, in contrast to such racial eugenics on the part of the 'far, far right' wing of the Republican Party, other Republicans such as myself, Senator John McCain and President George W. Bush are not racist (like the MinuteMen Militia are) and so they support Mexican immigration as a way of further bolstering our economy, granted with a cut-back on illegal immigration being warranted, but still a welcome bienvenidos to our newest Mexican-American citizens and soon-to-be citizens.
Viva George W. . . . Viva Senator McCain . . . Viva la Republica de Los Estados Unidos.

Home-erotic Art & the Cult of the Body
In Michel Foucault's philosophical work, in addition to exposing the fallacies of Western Liberal Democracies that begin espousing freedom, but often end in totalitarianism (we forget that Hitler was popularly elected in Germany), Foucault, himself a practicing homosexual during his lifetime, also exposed the human body to manifold scrutiny.
From medical practices that evolved from medieval torture-like techniques to more modern empiricism to ancient Greco-Roman practices of philosophers 'befriending' teenage boys (male on male pedophilia!) so also did Foucault accurately describe a paganism of an earlier era that can now cast light on our own paganism.
Take for instance the fact that many of our so-called 'Arts' are now literally dominated by the homosexual culture. From lesbian actresses (Ellen Degeneres) to homosexual classical musicians the Arts themselves have devolved from their pristine Renaissance Christian fervor into nothing but utter decadence.
To love & worship the creature with no reference to the Creator is the causa primia of this disorder (Romans 1:24-27).
To love & worship anything or anyone other than the One Supreme Creator, God, Father Son Holy Spirit, is also to fall into irrationality. As Jeremiah 10:14 & 15 describe Israel's own idolatrous worship of 'fallen art' (images made of gold that were idols), "They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish."
No, to worship anything other than the One and ONLY True God Who IS Father Son Holy Spirit is to become "mad" with lust and impurity.
So, although philosophy ("love of wisdom") may contain truth, THE TRUTH is none other than the WORD made flesh, Who IS Jesus the Messiah and as such, the Old and New Testaments, as the Living WORD of God in WRITTEN FORM is also THE TRUTH.

Know 'When to Say when . . .'
Abstinence. Sexual fidelity within covenantal marriage.
Tee-totaling. Either not drinking alcohol (certainly never using drugs!) OR if drinking, only drinking in moderation (like Jesus' first miracle at the wedding of Cana where alcohol was consumed, but drunken debauchery NOT approved of).
Such is the Virtue of Continence, if one were to use the Traditional categories of Virtue Ethicist, St. Thomas Aquinas, medieval Catholic Dominican scholar and Dr. of the Church.
Continence is a much-needed Virtue in helping to "Re-Build the American Republic."
From steering clear of sex outside of covenantal marriage and from steering clear of excessive drinking, any drug use, we as a society can move forward.
"Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control."

"If you have found honey, eat only enough for you, or else, having too much, you will vomit it."
-Proverbs 25:16
Enjoy life. Stay sober. Stay alert, stay alive (as the U.S. Army teaches). Stay out of the sack without covenantal union.

Meat-Eating Capitalism . . . YUCK!
I used to LOVE eating at Outback Steakhouse. The bloomin' onions were fun (if not VERY fattening!). The steaks were delicious. The price was just about right for a nice steak dinner. Therefore, whenever I would want to "treat my father" (who passed away in 2001), it was "off to Outback" for a steak.
Since that time of paternal bonding, however, I have since desired the fineries of cow-flesh much less.
Due to learning about Christian asceticism of the Early and Medieval Church (many of whom were either vegetarians or purposesly restricted meat intake in order to 'cleanse the soul' of impurities found in meat), I would periodically abstain from eating meat "Gandhi-style."
Well, as a true Christian practicioner of the spiritual disciplines (I just taught a course for Grand Canyon University-Online specifically in the Spiritual Disciplines such as fasting . . .), I see nothing wrong with eating meat per se. St. Peter, the first Pope, was told by Jesus in a Vision, that all flesh is capable of being eaten in the New Covenant found in Jesus.
Eating meat is okay.
Now here comes the "catcher."
Although eating meat is fine for Christians, sometimes, just as Jesus Himself fasted in the wilderness for forty days, so also should fasting (sometimes as a prophetic act!) also be incorporated into our growth as Christians.
Here is one example.
Proverbs 23:20-21 states that "Do not be among winebibbers, or among gluttonous eaters of meat; for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe them with rags."
So, in addition to avoiding drunkeness, also avoid excessively large meat intake.
If not, all of our money will be taken through our lack of self-control.
If you have any doubt, just listen to these numbers . . . 176 million dollars is what Bob Basham, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse just received in a corporate merger. Fellow co-founder of Outback, Chris Sullivan received 101 million dollars for the merger.
Lack of self-control on our parts as Christians leads to the ultra-rich cashing in while we would eventually go hungry as a nation . . .
Practice fasting as a resistance to consumer-driven voracious capitalism!

PRO-LIFE WORKING POOR POWER
Minimum Wage: Tool of Political Gamesmanship OR TRUE Concern for the working class?

I grew up as a Democrat largely due to the influence of my Father, a hard-working military man who went on to work as a self-employed (non-union) carpenter.
Although the Democratic Party was initially appealing to me due to its apparent ‘concern for the working class,’ as I became increasingly more Christianized in my thinking, I quickly found much of the Democratic Party to be quite abhorrent in their own thought processes . . .
First, although I had originally been persuaded by the Democratic propaganda concerning the Pro-Life issue, when I actually admitted that I was wrong in my prior belief, I could then see that little arms and little feet on supposed ‘fetal material’ were instead ACTUAL BABIES, and that for millions upon millions of women (some with PhD’s), the womb was no longer a safe haven for little children, but instead a place of state-protected maternal genocide. Forget Rwanda or the Holocaust, in the Democratic vision of the USA, baby murder was to be protected by legal and often illegal means. Anything to silence the Pro-Life Movement, including court sanctions, gag orders and denial of freedom of assembly by Pro-Life Protestors (a Constitutional Right by the way).
Second, although Democrats are supposedly the Party that ‘favors the working class,’ instead the Democrats will use issues such as minimum wage legislation (something recently signed into law by our good President George W. Bush) in order to simply gain votes rather than giving a rat’s arse about the ‘working poor.’ The proof of this is that a minimum wage law that was passed yearly and directly calibrated to the rate of inflation would make minimum wage a non-issue. Similar to military ‘cost of living’ salary increases, a minimum wage directly calibrated to the rate of inflation (3% per annum?) would effectively elevate the working class while producing no ill effects to the economy. Instead, the Republican Party, as it is often supported by ‘big business,’ will generally oppose minimum wage increases (which really are no increases at all, just the wage finally catching up with free market inflationary pressures filtering down finally to ‘labor costs’). Similarly, and to use the ‘rat’s arse’ argument again, the Democratic Party, as it is supported by the sizable financial coffers of media such as television and Hollywood billionaires, similarly could care less about the plight of Wendy’s workers in New Mexico making $5.15/hour (often who are not migrant workers nor ‘teenagers,’ but very often the working elderly, or just academic low achievers who must do manual labor). No, rather than ‘true concern’ for the working class, Democrats will simply manipulate the political game of minimum wage legislation to make it ‘look like’ they are the Party of the Working Class, when in actuality they are simply seeking to clutch onto political power at any costs.
Minimum wage directly calibrated to yearly inflation. A simple solution for maintaining U.S. standards of living into the next century . . .
Won’t you now join me in ‘rattling the sabers’ politically, taking up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the WORD of GOD and forcing BOTH Democrats and Republicans to embody the JESUS-ETHIC?

Ozzy, Jesus-Lovers and the Next American Christendom
Lately I have been hangin' with some 'rough people.' You know the type . . . long hair, riding motorcycles with American flags hanging off of the back seat . . .
Needless to say this is somewhat shocking because I, as a Republican, dress quite conservatively, with tie, and blue long sleeve button down dress shirt (yes, in Florida's heat!).
For example, my new friend (anonymous) is this motorcycle ridin' Jesus Lover who listens to Ozzy Osbourne, hangs out in Jimmy Buffet style at the local beach and well, looks a bit 'rough' compared to many of the 'blue blood' aristocratic types.
But he, similar to another "biker for Jesus" whom I know, have the strongest of Christian convictions. Jesus died on the cross for their sins and these men believe this firmly, and with passion & conviction!
As I have spent some time with my new friend, I have reflected briefly on the nature of the New America. America is a Christian society. Sure, there are the minority religious groups, to apparently even include things like witchcraft now (wicca). Sure, there are sizable mormon, and Islamic populations in the United States that espouse a different type of 'monotheism' than Christianity (or of Judaism). Sure, there is also a Constitutional amendment prohibiting any 'official' state-supported Church (like the Anglican Church in the U.K. or the Lutheran Churches of Germany and Scandinavia).
Although we are officially not a "State-supported church" type of Federal Government, regarding our common religious culture, when push comes to shove, we ARE a Christian Nation. From Billy Graham Crusades to Benny Hinn to Catholic Council of Bishops "Voter Guides" given prior to U.S. Elections, the Christian population, although highly heterogeneous culturally (everyone from Yale blue-bloods like George W. Bush to "Bikers for Jesus"!) is nevertheless a distinctively Christian Nation.
So, although Ozzy Osbourne might well replace "classical" music such as Bach, Beethoven, et al (likely, it already has been replaced), and although Christians now come in all "shapes" and sizes to include motorcycle riders and Yalies, and even "Domers" like myself (i.e. Notre Dame football fans ;-) our common Christian culture, however imperfect, and often from the backs of "Bikers for Jesus" types is nonetheless holding on strong and even advancing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Long live Yalies such as George W. Bush and long live "Bikers for Jesus" who although they might listen to Ozzy Osbourne, are nonetheless stalwart in the faith!

But he, similar to another "biker for Jesus" whom I know, have the strongest of Christian convictions. Jesus died on the cross for their sins and these men believe this firmly, and with passion & conviction!
As I have spent some time with my new friend, I have reflected briefly on the nature of the New America. America is a Christian society. Sure, there are the minority religious groups, to apparently even include things like witchcraft now (wicca). Sure, there are sizable mormon, and Islamic populations in the United States that espouse a different type of 'monotheism' than Christianity (or of Judaism). Sure, there is also a Constitutional amendment prohibiting any 'official' state-supported Church (like the Anglican Church in the U.K. or the Lutheran Churches of Germany and Scandinavia).
Although we are officially not a "State-supported church" type of Federal Government, regarding our common religious culture, when push comes to shove, we ARE a Christian Nation. From Billy Graham Crusades to Benny Hinn to Catholic Council of Bishops "Voter Guides" given prior to U.S. Elections, the Christian population, although highly heterogeneous culturally (everyone from Yale blue-bloods like George W. Bush to "Bikers for Jesus"!) is nevertheless a distinctively Christian Nation.
So, although Ozzy Osbourne might well replace "classical" music such as Bach, Beethoven, et al (likely, it already has been replaced), and although Christians now come in all "shapes" and sizes to include motorcycle riders and Yalies, and even "Domers" like myself (i.e. Notre Dame football fans ;-) our common Christian culture, however imperfect, and often from the backs of "Bikers for Jesus" types is nonetheless holding on strong and even advancing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Long live Yalies such as George W. Bush and long live "Bikers for Jesus" who although they might listen to Ozzy Osbourne, are nonetheless stalwart in the faith!
